As wedding photographers we have the honor of working with many different vendors and when you find those that you just “click with” you want to spend more time with them. Debbie Knight and her staff of the Bradford House and Gardens are some of the most genuine and sweet people you will ever meet. Their venue is located in Flowery Branch Georgia and it’s simply beautiful, they have a spacious, covered Pavilion for your ceremony and dancing afterwards and your reception is hosted in the garden and house. They offer several packages and you are sure to find a package that’s just right for you as you plan your wedding day! We recently asked her to share some words of wisdom for you to consider as you are choosing the perfect venue for your wedding!
Top 2 tips
1. While this tip may not sound “romantic” I think it is very important. Talk to them about their process from beginning to end. You do not want to be swept away by a sales person’s personality, just to find that once you’ve signed the contract, you’re on your own? Ask questions such as, “When do we start the planning?” ” How often will I meet with the wedding planner/coordinator/director?” “What type of information will you need from me and how do I get it to you?”
2. Always find out exactly what comes with the contract. Some venues offer “All-inclusive” which means different things at different venues. Others are more “do it yourself” so you want to ask what that means and know every item that is included. Too many times couple will make assumptions and get an unexpected surprise as the get closer to the wedding day.
Mistakes
1. Everyone has a budget. Even the couples who don’t know their budget until they have exceeded it. That can cause so many problems for everyone involved. Any venue you choose wants to see happy couples at the end of their reception. But sometimes that is not the case, not because the venue has done anything wrong, but because the couple, in their enthusiasm, has monumentally exceeded their budget. At a minimum, know your budget range. It can save so much heart ache down the road.
2. The other side of the coin is that you want to remember what this day is all about. If you are so consumed with the price, you might pass up a venue that you really want. Later, that price difference may seem to have been a drop in the bucket. Budgets are great and logical. But don’t give up the magic. Too many times I have heard people say that they wished that they had gone with the venue they really loved!
Best thing about us!
Have you ever been to an event, a concert, play or any event where you left saying “that was fantastic”, where you got so caught up in it that you didn’t want it to end, where you felt almost overwhelmed by the excitement and joy? Those are great events! Not mediocre, but great! Do you think it just happened? Of course, you know there was a lot of planning, timing and details that had to be attended to in order to pull it off. But you probably didn’t think about that while you were in the midst of the excitement, and you shouldn’t have. At the Bradford House we know that your mother feels like a meal isn’t complete until she’s had her cup of coffee, that we know how special your grandmother’s recipe for her cheese ball is, that we know there might be someone at the wedding that will require a little extra attention. These seem like little things but you should have seen the bride when she sat down for her first meal with her husband at the reception and her grandmother’s cheese ball was in front of her, or the gratitude of the groom who saw that our staff were discreetly attending to a family member who would otherwise have been trying to take over the reception. Or the bride who sees that her mother has a big grin on her face when our staff bring her a cup of coffee as she finished her meal….without asking for it.
Wedding planners take care of details for you like making sure the flowers are perfect and that the cake is delivered on time and just the way the couple ordered it. We do that too, but we take it farther. We want you and your family to know that we understand the importance of this day. This is why so many of our reviews mention that their guests were still talking about how wonderful their wedding was for months after the fact. This is what we do! And we would love the opportunity to do this for you..
Final thoughts!
Your wedding day is one of the most unforgettable days of your life. Make sure you are surrounded by people who care about you, both personal friends and family and amazing vendors who love what they do because they know they have made a difference in your life that will be remembered for many years to come.
